June x July Update

Hey guys! I've been away from some time and it's starting to all sound the same right? Well, it's because I've been kind of in the same mode for Anime Expo 2015 prep. As you may know, I'm a cosplayer and Anime Expo is kind of my big con to wear cosplay and to hang out with friends due to the size and me being in Southern California. It seems like it was a lot of time for all of this right?

Well that's true... and then it's not true. I was able to buy some of my costumes for insurance, but one still hasn't gotten into the warehouse. That was a bit of a hiccup, it's been okay so far. I was able to buy a new costume and have that shipped to me about two weeks before the con. I'll make some update posts on my costumes from here on out so I can keep track of my own progress as well as show you where I am with my skill level.

Anime Expo was a pretty fun experience. I hung around with a fun group of people that consisted of my best friend, my boyfriend, and his cousin. For the most part, it's a blur between costume changes and the exhibit hall. During cons, I tend to go through the Exhibit Hall and the Artist Alley quite thoroughly. However, this year I went a bit crazy with my savings on the Exhibit Hall and not enough in the Artist Alley which is a grand shame. Next year.

I'll be writing a post on my Kantai Collection cosplay as it's still in the works and never made it to Anime Expo as well as a general "what cosplay means to me" post.

I'm Not Dead!

It's been over a month and I'm so, so sorry for neglecting this blog. A lot of things have been thrown at me and most of it is a bit of my fault. I kind of threw myself into a lot of different hobbies that require their own time and personally I just didn't have enough time to encapsulate it.

However, it is now summer vacation as it has been for about a month and I'm starting to slowly work things out. Currently I'm not doing any work in theatre since it's the summer and I'm not in school and I'm not very prepared to go out into the industry just yet. I am, however, working with cosplay a lot. I'm currently going on a costume making binge to make it in time for Anime Expo in Los Angeles. Since I don't want to congest the front page here, I'll go and put the rest under a cut since there's a lot to write.

Where Have I Been?

Hey guys. I know it's been months and months and there hasn't been a single post from me. It's been a really hectic, busy, but fun few months and I apologize for not being able to keep up the blog n-n.

The last time you guys heard from me, I said I was in a show and I was trying to balance school, work, and the show altogether. Well, now that I'm in bed in pain, I guess I have time to debrief (I'll get to the pain bit later).

The show I was in closed last weekend and it was a fun run and I actually warmed up to the show quite a bit despite my original feelings going into it. It was a lot of hard work and sometimes I didn't even want to go, but I couldn't do that to myself or my fellow cast members. The last night of the show we had a great cast party where it was all fun, food, and drinks. People who came to see the show loved it and there was a lot of praise!

Work and school are old news so I won't really go into that other than the fact that I get out of school as of next Thursday for the summer who-hoo! It's been a pretty interesting first year of college.

Now for some of the more important bits regarding the blog. You may have noticed I changed the name of my blog as well as the URL. Dang I know. It's probably not the smartest, since now wherever I've commented, the url is a dud--but I did it for good reason. I figured that I would be way more active on the blog if I mashed it with my love for books as well as cosplay. I've put my cosplay name on the URL, Lena, and I thought if I'm posting about the work I'm doing throughout my cosplay, it'd be a lot easier documenting my progress and later on I can look back on how my cosplay has changed!

That's it really. I'll be posting an introductory post once I get my Facebook page up, but that's planning ahead.

So don't worry, I'm reading books again now that my life is a little less hectic and you guys will be seeing a lot of cosplay. My life will start to get a bit more hectic again once I start churning out my cosplay non stop, but for the most part it's less hectic than usual.

Quick Update!

Hello, hello. As you may have noticed, I haven't posted anything last week or the week before. I've been caught up with school and work and even though I'm not posting, I sure am reading! So believe me, when I say I'm still trying to put in an effort. A few things that have happened lately:

• I got put to work on the weekends at my job so I don't really have a full weekend day free for the blog anymore T^T. Hopefully this will change when I put in a new schedule, but it also might not because...
• I'm working on an audition for my school's upcoming spring musical. As a theatre major, I really have to keep working on my craft and the best way to do that is to put myself out there and if I do get the job, to work at it because that's the only way I'll learn to become a better actor and performer!
• I'm currently taking five classes (and for a college student like me that's a bit excessive), so having free time is really hard to find and when I do, I tend to hang out with my friends or do something besides sit around. 
• And like I said in the previous bullet point, I've been spending a lot of time away from the computer. It's a nice change, but I'll definitely try to squeeze some time in. I really wish Blogger had a better mobile app or else I'd be posting a lot more frequently. 

There you have it. A quick wrap up of what's been going on recently and why I haven't really been posting anything. As of right now I have a review for Scarlet and Cress ready to be typed up (I wrote it in my notebook). I've made more progress in The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black.

 I've given up on Eleanor and Park. If you've seen my Twitter feed, you'll see how I'm very unimpressed and a little miffed about the writing in the book. I got about a third of the way through and stopped reading. I may make a different post about it, but for now, just know that I am not very fond of the book at all.

But I've just started All the Bright Places and I like how it's going so far, so hopefully I enjoy it more!

Sorry for not being so active lately, I'm really trying, but I feel like I'm juggling a hundred different things. Hopefully when the semester ends I'll have more free time. You'll probably see me making progress posts about my cosplays. I may put up a post about what I have planned.
